MOUNT SINABUNG ERUPTION
 Last Updated: 3 September 2010, 16:00
Mount Sinabung, located 29kms from Berastagi in North Sumatra, erupted on 28 August 2010. As of today, the volcano is still showing a high level of activity, causing tremors in the area and emitting ash and other volcanic material.
Apart from the reported death of a local man and the relocation of 12,000 villagers from the area around the volcano, the eruption has not caused any serious damage.
Berastagi is not affected by the volcano at this time. Asia World Indonesia still continues our tours, programmes and activities in Sumatra as normal, except in the affected region.
