MOUNT MERAPI ERUPTION, INDONESIA

We would like to give you the latest update on the eruption of Mount Merapi.
After being affected by the Mount Merapi eruption for the past few weeks, the Yogyakarta situation is finally back to normal.
Yesterday most of the volcanic ash throughout out the city was washed out by the rain, leaving the city in good condition. Refugees have started returning to their homes.
Adi Sucipto Airport of Yogyakarta and Adi Sumarmo Airport have re-opened. Keraton Yogykarta and Prambanan temple are open as usual. However, Borobudur Monument remains closed except for the monument’s courtyard.
There were several flight cancellations on Saturday, November 6, at Soekarno Hatta international Airport of Jakarta. However as of today, all flights have resumed their normal activity.

UPDATED - MOUNT MERAPI ERUPTION, INDONESIA 5 NOVEMBER 2010
We would like to give you the latest update on the eruption of Mount Merapi.
After continiously erupting since Monday (October 25), another major eruption occurred on Friday (November 5) at dawn. The volcanic ashes expelled by the mountain covered at least 20km radius from the summit.
Adi Sucipto Airport of Yogyakarta was closed for short period of time and was opened normally this morning at 9 o’clock local time. Borobudur Monument which was affected by the volcanic ashes is closed. However, the monument’s courtyard remains accessible. Prambanan temple is not affected by the eruption.
Asia World Indonesia’s tours to Prambanan and Borobodur, as well as Yogyakarta City Tour, continue as normal. There is also no disruption or cancellation in flights to and from Yogyakarta.

UPDATED - MOUNT MERAPI ERUPTION, INDONESIA 27 OCTOBER 2010
We would like to give you the latest update on the eruption of Mount Merapi. The death toll from the eruption rose to at least 25 on Wednesday (October 27), a day after it erupted in Indonesia, according to officials.
The volcano erupted at least three times Tuesday (October 25), forcing thousands of nearby residents to flee.
Please be informed that Yogyakarta is located approximately 30 km from Mount Merapi and is no affected by the eruption.
Asia World Indonesia’s tours to Prambanan and Borobodur, as well as Yogyakarta City Tour, continue as normal. There is also no disruption or cancellation in flights to and from Yogyakarta.
The Merapi Golf Course has been closed until further notice and Borobudur Monument which was affected by the volcanic ashes is closed from 27 until 29 October for cleaning maintenance. However, the Monument courtyard remains accessible during the maintenance period.
