BANGKOK UPDATE
 Last Updated: 27 July 2010, 17:00
After the local Bangkok election on Sunday, 25th July 2010, which the opposition lost there was an isolated incident. A small device was detonated in a bus shelter near a supermarket in central Bangkok and unfortunately one person was killed and 10 persons were injured. All apart from 2 people could leave the hospital already. This seems to be a politically motivated incident.
In reaction to this incident extra security measures are deployed in public places such as shopping areas, inter-provincial bus stations, the sky train and the subway.
So far there have been no other incidents. The last 2 days remained very quiet also because there are public holidays (Monday & Tuesday) and all government offices are closed.
All tourist attractions around the capital and around Thailand are operating as normal. The Asia World / Asian Connections regular tours do not pass through this area. We will keep you updated on any further developments.
